Engineering Is More Than Calculations

Don’t get me wrong. I love calculations—especially Finite Element Analysis. I love 3D design as well. Calculations, 3D design, and engineering theory are essential for designing cool and useful things.

However, engineering problems rarely exist only on paper. Real structures and machines don’t always behave like textbook examples. They are real problems that need to be solved using a combination of theory, advanced computer tools, and a good portion of practical, hands-on experience.

And that’s what fascinates me about engineering. I absolutely love connecting theory with practice.

Mechanical engineering, design, analysis, and practical work—both on and off the clock—are all things I enjoy.

This blog will be about my experiences with mechanical engineering. It will probably also include some of my personal projects, such as my old motorcycle, a 1978 Honda CB750K that I brought back to life and am now restoring little by little, with the goal of making it a nicer and nicer bike.

Stay tuned for future posts, and feel free to send me an email if you have an interesting project you’d like to discuss or simply have a question.

Engineering is more than calculations. Real-world engineering requires the combination of theory, advanced analysis, practical experience, and sound engineering judgment. That's how you create big successes just like my 1978 Honda CB750K, which revolutionized the motorcycle world in 1969 when it was first introduced.
